The Official Practise Day
It has started with rain in the morning. I am not sure our pilots beleived we can fly, but we were quite sure about the improvement later in the afternoon. Since the morning was cloudy and windy we postponed briefing to 12:00. This allowed us to look at the forecast more carefuly and to adjust the airspace which was really not complicated today.
At the briefing mmore than half of the pilots indicated they will fly so we decided to set 2:00 speed task via two asigned areas, one in the North East around TP60 and the second in the South East around TP40. The minimum distance 100 km look a bit short for some classes, manly open, but it was a trainig day in the not wery stright forward weather pattern. It has been quite windy all the day long, but the termals were strong and fresh. Despite some blue areas the flight have not been too complicated according to the pilots I have spoken to. Finally all the pilots completed their plan for today, some flew the task, some used this opportunity to check their gliders, engines, instruments, flight recorders or other equipment before the next days contest. At the end of the day I saw smile on most of faces so I can assume the day payed out.
For tomorrow and the day after we expect a good weather for flying before the cold change should come on Monday, so watch out !
