This morning looked a bit different than we had expected the day before. There was a thick layer of the clouds spreading above the airport in the morning and we did not know whether it would be possible to fly. Vlado and Dominik set short tasks hoping for a little window to come.
Around 12:00 LOC the weather started to improve. The layer of the clouds disappeared and little cumulus clouds started to showing up. Launching was postponed to 13:00pm. There were few complications with the take offs, but organizators got it under the control.
Accoarding to some pilots the tasks were too difficult and the weather was unpredictable. On the other hand, some pilots were more than content with their flights and the chosen tasks. The preliminary results says that all of the classes will be valid.
The weather for tomorrow will be influenced by the cold front passing from the west. The rain is expected from the morning lasting all day. Most likely there will be a non-flying day tomorrow. Check the web page for further information about the tomorrow´s briefing. Good night:)

The first official day of the competition
Waking up into the beautiful morning was the first sign of the wonderful day we could be expecting. The sky was blue with no clouds and the wind was calm. The sun was shining and everybody was impatient to see what tasks would be made. The tasks were pretty challenging, more than 400km for the open class. But it was a good decision. It was not easy, but more than the half of the pilots in every class were able to complete the task.
The launching proceeded without any major problems and it took one hour and five minutes for 134 gliders to be taken into the air. After the launching the organizing crew could finally take some time off to relax and enjoy the sun. Around 16:30pm there were first gliders on the final. The landings took place until the sunset.
Tomorrow we are expecting the pilots to compete again, but the weather will be influenced by the coming cold front that will most likely make monday a non-flying day. Good nigh and sleep well. See you tomorrow:)
