Competition - 27th Jul 2011

Competition day!

This day started with a thick morning fog that had not dissolved until midday. It was very hard to predict how will the weather situation develope during the day. Accoarding to the meteorologist the flying conditions should have been slightly better than yesterday. Though the cumulus clouds bases should have been lower and more rain showers had been expected.

At 9:30 the captains briefing was held and the discussion about the case of not valid competition for any of the classes was led. It was decided that in the case on invalidity just the invalid class will compete on saturday if possible. Normal briefing was scheduled for 10 o´clock. The tasksheets were distributed at 12:00. All classes were given 100km long racing tasks.

First outlandings were reported quite early and we were afraid if the pilots will be able to make it home. Fortunatelly, the development of showers on the south that were causing the troubles has decreased and the weather situation has improved. Arrivals have started and after a while we knew that this day would be valid. There were around 10 warnings for the low landings given. Shortly after 5pm all gliders were accounted for.  Another succesfull day was behind us:)
