Invitation

Dear gliding friends,

On behalf of local organisers from Aeroklub Nitra and Slovak National Aeroklub of Gen. M.R.Stefanik I would like to invite all FAI nations to the FAI European Gliding Championships 2011 scheduled for July 2011 at Nitra Airport / Slovakia.

The Nitra venue has been recently established as a great place for gliding events. All necessarily facilities including suitable airfield with international camping area, huge briefing areas and good repair facilities, catering and lodging close to the airport and good route access should ensure that all involved will experience pleasant stay and funny atmosphere in Nitra.

The greatest fortunes of the countries are their people. Slovaks are commonly known for their friendly and hospitable behaviour. The Slovakia climate and natural fortune has promoted the country for tourism and adventure sports. This common interest to the sport, particularly to flying, is reflected by organising activities of the Slovak National Aeroclub or local clubs in the past. Here we have to mention the FAI EGC 1994 (Club Class) held at Slavnica airfield, the FAI Women EGC 1997 held at Prievidza, most recently FAI WGC 2003 (World Class and Juniors Classes), FAI EGC 2005 (Club, Standard and 18m Classes) and FAI EGC 2009 (15m, 18m and Open Classes) both events organised at the same place as this one. Moreover starting from 2003 Nitra became gradually famous in gliding by organisation of now well established international Easter gliding competition called Pribina Cup, but that is probably already well known to the most of you. Last but not least we should not to forget mention successfully organized FAI World Gliding Championships 2010 (World, Club and Standard Classes) in Prievidza.

The upcoming event is supported by local and state authorities, which will help us to achieve our goal to held great, friendly, exciting and most of all safe event.

We hope that you have already several reasons that encouraged you enough to fly in Nitra during 2011 FAI event.

On behalf of Nitra 2011 Team

Sincerely yours

Vladimir Foltin
