DAILY SUMMARY

2026-04-05

After Saturday’s cancelled day due to weak conditions, Sunday delivered the best flying of the competition so far. Clear skies dominated from mid-morning with temperatures climbing from 8°C to a high of 22°C under a light southwesterly wind building to 15-16 km/h by afternoon. Cumulus clouds developed nicely over the task area through early afternoon before slowly clearing from the west. Cloud bases were significantly higher than on Day 1, and the sniffer confirmed good conditions by 11:30. The grid was turned for the day, operating from runway 15, with first competition launches at 12:00. AAT tasks with a 2-hour minimum were set for all classes, routing pilots south towards Partizánske, Sherwood forest and the Hont region.

The Open class saw the most competitive racing of the competition - 15 of 18 pilots finished the task, a big step up from Day 1's 11 finishers. Pavel Jiránek (CS) won the day in his Ventus c 17.6m (96.60 km/h, 243 km, 492 pts), but the top five were covered by just 44 points. Overall leader Tomáš Rendla (EZ) took 2nd at an impressive 99.66 km/h, keeping his comfortable lead at 844 pts. Alena Netušilová (A7) sits 2nd overall with 781 pts. Three pilots did not finish task, and two were penalized for finishing below minimum altitude.

The 15m class belonged to Karel Novák (AX), who posted the fastest speed of the day across all classes - 105.85 km/h over 215 km in his Ventus 2a for all 516 points. The gap to 2nd was huge: Jan Pavlík (JW) and Miloslav Cink (JB), both in LS-8s, scored 409 and 408 pts after flying nearly identical races. Overall, Pavlík and Cink remain locked in a battle at the top - 577 vs 574 pts, separated by just 3 points.

Club class saw 8 of 9 pilots finish. Michal Lešinger (LL) took his second day win in the ASW-20 (87.65 km/h, 177 km, 608 pts), extending his overall lead to 901 pts - 109 points ahead of Mateusz Kruszyński (TF). Christoph Spath (I) and Miha Premrl (IPF) completed the podium. Jozef Dúc (EB) and Roman Petro (101), both in Pegase C-101As, started later and brought home 427 and 383 points respectively.

A Czech sweep of all three class wins on a day that finally delivered the spring soaring conditions Pribina Cup is known for. The overall battles are heating up - especially in 15m where the top two are separated by just 3 points. Tomorrow's forecast shows a front moving in with cooler temperatures and stronger northwesterly winds.
