Competition - 23rd Mar 2008

2008-03-23 18:13:22

We woke up into the sunny but chilly morning that continued even when arriving to the airport. But as the 10:00 briefing approached the situation had completely changed into, sky hid behind a massive clouds cover. What we saw ourselves was even confirmed on the screen showing all ever possible meteo panels and models – we are in the centre of several dispersed low pressures. BUT, yesterday did not give a lot of hope either and changed into nice contest day. At 11:45, everybody got ready on the grid. The final decision came at 12:30 and we found ourselves in – what we locally call “fire drill”. Indeed, the situation was not lost, it offered a good reason to stay in the glider and practice local thermals. In the same time, yesterday was exhausting as many teams arrived home lately and did not get enough sleep. There are some difficult days ahead but as flying is never the same, this keep us excited.
