Competition - 30th Mar 2008

2008-03-30 20:26:53

Sunday morning – „one day after“ Pribina Cup did not look exactly than way. The situation (meteorological and as so also of the competition) developed this year the very unusual way. Normally, everybody would expect today emptying the airfield, the last goodbyes, perhaps some relaxing flying. But not today. We started the day with a regular briefing, just, as the time changed into the summer, we met at 10:00. To our surprise, hangar was pretty filled. All around we could hear the comments like “Great, the contest is over, the weather started!” Really, warm, beautiful, sunny, promising day. Task-setter prepared more ambitious tasks for 15M class which needed only one more valid competition day to have the whole event legitimate. Besides, there were more out-of-contest pilots interested to fly, event to follow the same task. At 12:00 everything was ready on the grid. We had some doubts whether the sky for ready for our takeoffs too but our DG 1000 did confirm the climbs. Within 18 minutes all 24 competitors were towed and could start their last race. The distances were challenging, we wanted them to prove their best. And as the results show, they did perfectly. All pilots registered between 250 up to 300 km (Mircea Craciun). Weather conditions were excellent! Only one outlanding for the whole day. Who profited the most was our well-know loyal pilot Rasmus Orskov (VN) from Denmark who collected nice 1000 points. And this was also the decision-making result for the overall competition. Rasmus became an absolute winner with 2203 points – over 283 points beating second Mindaugas Zaliukas and over 373 third our Slovak pilot Ludek Somol. Congratulations! We are very very happy you had the chance to leave Nitra with typical wonderful impressions. Hopefully, you keep them in mind as a good memory on Nitra and as an encouragement for the whole flying season! The other pilots enjoyed the day as well, many decided to stay and fly the whole week long.
