Competition - 22nd Mar 2008

2008-03-22 19:19:12

We have a technical problem with FTP abload. We applologize, all the team is doing the best to solve the issue to provide you with the data.

2008-03-22 19:16:17

All gliders have been counted, now there is only the technical part waiting for us. Some pilots and their teams looks tired but VERY HAPPY they had the chance to fly today, no matter about if the task will be counted... but we will see. Enjoy your evening folks!

2008-03-22 18:52:59

58 pilots did get back to the Nitra airfield. We need to complete the info about all pilots. The data is being proceeded and we make you able to check them asap

2008-03-22 18:10:05

One of the last pilots landing in Nitra: Laszlo Kapuy on GE from OPEN class.

2008-03-22 17:37:39

The traffic is slowing down, we need to complete the info about all pilots. In Partizanske airport (about 35km airline) are 8 pilots outlanded, some waiting for the aerotow.

2008-03-22 17:04:21

To see the contest # of the last landings: DX, VL, ITB, TL, HC, MS, PL, PB, KW, 99, I

2008-03-22 16:58:04

The runway is not too busy the last minutes but "5km" is being announced regulary. However, the first arrivals from OPEN did not avoid using their engines. Is there any of them going to complete the task?

2008-03-22 16:43:49

... in contrary, the collection of pilots waiting in the fields is increasing: HN, CI, ARI, MS, EY

2008-03-22 16:38:25

DX, VK, ZB, LOT, SR, ZP home

2008-03-22 16:27:05

5 more at home: N2, TM, IR, ZM, BX. No wind at the airfield, just calmly admiring the finals

2008-03-22 16:24:17

Hands up who everybody had doubts about today! First HOME landings here: AX, VN, W1, 1W ... 15M class has been doing a good job. VV home but did not complete the task

2008-03-22 16:05:22

CLUBs have the most difficulties for now, another six will not land back here: 12, LC, T, ID, FK, HK

2008-03-22 15:52:33

Five pilots out of game for now: 101, KM, SN, T7 and GJ from CLUB class

2008-03-22 15:36:29

As far as we know the pilots are successfully on their journey. "I really do not understand what is the magic about Nitra. On the way here we made ourselves content about the under-the-roof program this year. But you do not let the forecast be truth", stated one of our long-time visitor. Cloud bases climbed into 1500m

2008-03-22 14:56:11

CLUB class have just started their race and will be followed by OPENs at 15:03. There are some reluctant who were not convinced about the conditions neither the crowd excitement.

2008-03-22 14:32:33

The gliders are somehow dispersed in the sky but we can see bigger cloud of them right above our heads. 14:28 >>> 15M class has the start line open. Impressive, after 40min. there are only few planes left to be towed

2008-03-22 14:01:35

Launching is not the easiest matter ever, the runway ground is wet after not-only-today rain, some stronger push needed to put the machines into movement. But no major difficulties

2008-03-22 13:42:58

15M class started this all up: W1 (Pribina's loyal competitor Tommy Nyby Jorgensen) in tow of powerful Cmelak left everybody else behind his tail. Christoph Nacke on NAJ from CLUB class followed within a few second and the others in a very fast sequence

2008-03-22 13:38:32

Did you have a feeling that the airport is too calm? That is over! The rate of decibels increased maybe 10times (do not blame me, I have no idea to estimate it myself) - 9 towplanes cranked up their engines approaching to the grid of 124 evidently excited competitors. Any wonders? THIS IS THE FIRST 2008 SERIOUS FLYING DAY!

2008-03-22 13:29:14

No no, not yet, we give them/us/the weather few more minutes to improve, start postponed to 13:45

2008-03-22 13:22:54

The trailers almost all empty and convoy of cars towing their gliders towards the grid. Cloud base about 800m. The anxious face expression of task-setter evidently changing into confident

2008-03-22 12:36:40

The cloud bases are not very high yet but slowly rising. We have an information that approximately 30km west from Nitra are already nice Cumuluses. Keep your fingers crossed for us !!!

2008-03-22 12:20:17

here we go: All classes (CLUB, OPEN and 15M) have tasks, assignated areas type, ranging from 102,4km up to maximum 310,5km (for 15M). Pilots will stay rather close to Nitra. Gridding at 13:15 and launching at 13:30. We have to hurry up

2008-03-22 11:54:53

The office is busy right now, a lot of printing ... I have seen the tasks prepared for 12:00 briefing! Final number of pilots: 113!

2008-03-22 10:56:18

The contest is officially open, over 100 pilots present but we provide you with the exact number later on as there are still some arrivals expected. Good news: this is the earliest Pribina Cup for the next 30 years :-) No grid open fo now but we see a possibility to have a flyable window in the afternoon - another briefing at 12:00

2008-03-22 09:21:10

Good morning, welcome to the first day of Pribina contest. The first most interesting info is surely the meteo situation: as our meteoman describes "we are in the low pressure influention, that is why we expect but clouds, some rain or showers, over 700m snow."
