Competition - 29th Mar 2008

2008-03-29 19:56:17

The BEST grade to Laco, goulash was excellent this year, especially it made us feel warmer in hangar where the cold reigns. Vladimir had the final words a bit in a different tune as there were no official results of the contest. In the same time we made a big applause for the best performers of the classes. Now the evening continues with relaxed chatting, beer and watching the photos - also a bit different with winter context. All who have left or are about to do so - have a good journey home!

2008-03-29 17:56:07

The airport is getting less and less busy. As we had many participants from distant countries, their journey takes longer time and they had to leave earlier today. On the other hand, almost ready goulash smells all around. Some people are already cruising around. Party starts early, the evening is just at the beginning.

2008-03-29 14:28:13

Now it is definitely truth: Pribina Cup will not be valid for two classes: CLUB and OPEN as they have only 2 valid competition days. We will still try to make 15M class gaining their 4th day tomorrow. Anyway, we meet at 18:00 in the hangar to make the conclusion of the week, see some photos, eat, drink and enjoy the last common moments.

2008-03-29 14:12:53

NO. We cannot fly today. The development was there but completely opposite direction. There is another shower and it does not look any better for the whole afternoon. The day is cancelled. As so, we will have an attempt to fly with 15M class tomorrow.

2008-03-29 13:45:24

Still not good enought. We push the launches another 1/2 hour later - 14:30

2008-03-29 13:33:28

There started to be a massive movement on the airfield from trailers line direction to the grid. More sunshine looking from behind the clouds keeps the chances closer to reality.

2008-03-29 13:07:20

While director and task-setter are monitoring the sky, another group from local guys work hard in the back to prepare the evening meal - goulash. If everything goes well we will taste their masterpiece at 18:00 at the farewell party

2008-03-29 12:40:24

Another half an hour to wait. The cloud layer is still too thick. Grid at 13:45 and launching at 14:00.

2008-03-29 12:09:39

No yet. The flyable weather did not arrive here yet. We postponed the first launch to 13:30, grid will be closed 13:15

2008-03-29 11:24:28

As expected already earlier in the morning, there is a chance to fly. As so, the tasks are set to the South with assigned areas. The first launch is expected at 12:30

2008-03-29 10:36:22

The improvement is visible as we can see some blue sky in the west behind Nitra. And as we have confirmed from Trnava (town about 35km west from Nitra) there is already full sun shining

2008-03-29 09:33:13

As we need some time to monitor the weather development we will have another very short briefing at 11:00

2008-03-29 09:31:52

Today's briefing program: we had another daily winners announcement, this time domination of German team - Philipp Butz from CLUB, Uli Schwenk from OPEN - and i between them Peter Szabo from Hungary in 15M class. The rain was knocking on hangar roof while we were watching the meteo forecast images. Today's plan: to fly!

2008-03-29 08:40:10

Despite the present rain in Nitra, we hope for the valid day. The grid time is 11:45. Runway 33. Briefing will be in 20 minutes at 09:00.
