Competition - 29th Apr 2011

2011-04-29 18:15:45

All gliders counted.

2011-04-29 16:54:56

We know about 9 outlandings in the Club class, 6 in 15m class and 1 in Open Class. First results are on Soaringspot, the speeds of winners 96+ km/h.

2011-04-29 16:44:17

The airfield has been quite busy during the last hour. Gliders landing at a rate of around 1-2 pieces a minute. No trailer have left for a while. The pilots could use great cloud streets on some parts of the task, but also encountered turnpoints which were very hard to reach.

2011-04-29 15:55:28

A lot of gliders on 10 K, hopefully just about to finish the task :-). First trailer left the airfield at about 2:30 pm and there seems to be another one leaving every 15 minutes or so.

2011-04-29 14:21:02

There are cirrus, cirrostratus, altostratus, cumulus and cumulus (almost) congestus clouds visible from the airfield now. A bit of blue sky to the north east. Conversations of pilots on our frequency are about detours, showers but also progress towards the turnpoints :-).

2011-04-29 12:50:42

Launches took around 1:15, including a couple of relaunches. The sky south of airport is covered by a thick cirrus. About 50 gliders are struggling above the city in 500-700 meters. The cumulus clouds further north seem wide and unfriendly. But we've also seen some gliders really high flying towards to start line. Good luck.

2011-04-29 11:51:28

Launches started at 11:30. The clouds on the mountains look very active, the air south of Nitra is probably without thermals.

2011-04-29 10:25:22

Briefing: the tasks are set, 262 to 356 km. The launch time is planned at 11:30 LOC. We wish to pilots luck and good eye to avoid today's tricks of the weather.

7th Competition Day

Grid today is for RWY 15.

NE grid - 15m, 20m, Open

SW grid - Club, Open self launchers.

Briefing at 10:00. Grid will be closed at 11:15.

Today's weather should allow earlier launches and good thermals but also promise even more rainshowers than yesterday.
