Competition - 30th Apr 2011

2011-04-30 19:43:52

All glider are counted.

2011-04-30 17:22:46

A batch of gliders from 20m and Open class landed on the airport.

Still not counted:

15m class: 1

Club class: 2

20m class: 6

Open class: 7

2011-04-30 16:42:08

After a lot of landings the situation is calm now. Which is a little weird from our perspective because the sun has been hidden behind thick clouds for almost an hour. We'd expect either trailers leaving or more gliders arriving. Let's hope they are still in the air. The count of gliders that are not home and didn't report an outlanding:

15m class - 3

Club class - 8

20m class - 11

Open class - 13

2011-04-30 15:48:26

The situation at the moment is a little confusing. Some pilots from the Open class didn't start the task and landed about 1 hour after launch. The sky looks a little less unfriendly and the light rain stopped. Some gliders from 15m, 20m and Club class are arriving, presumably after finishing the task. Around 5 trailers left the airfield so far.

2011-04-30 14:44:31

The launches took around 1 hour and 15 minutes. The sky doesn't look good, the darkest, biggest thunderstorm seems to be forming in the south. The wind is getting stronger and there is slight rain at the airfield.

2011-04-30 13:33:44

Launches started 12:45, 15m and 20m classes are in the air. Club class should be in the air soon. The sky above airfield is mostly clear and the gaggles seem to be higher and less concentrated than yesterday. Some gliders are already at altitude limit. There is an early stage congestus northeast of the airfield.

2011-04-30 12:10:06

Cirrus cloud above the airfield is suppressing thermal activity. The launches didn't start yet. Task B (meaning 2 hours task time) has been set.

2011-04-30 10:24:21

Quite flexible assigned area tasks were announced on the briefing. Task setters used the same area for tasks as yesterday. The task time is 2:30. Variant B for all classes is ready, with the only difference of task time (2:00). So far the variant A is valid.

2011-04-30 09:08:02

Vladimir with Dominik are thinking about a task for 1000 points, avoiding the afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Another consideration is to have as many gliders as possible home, but not at the same time :-).

2011-04-30 08:24:00

Briefing will be at 10:00, first launch is expected to be at 11:00.

2011-04-30 08:08:01

Good morning. Grid today for RWY 15, same setup as yesterday.
