3rd Valid Day!

In the morning the weather looked quite satisfying. The sun was shining and there were just few high clouds over our area. Grid was opened and we believed that we will be able to fly at least some short tasks. Our area was influenced by the weaking warm front that was decaying. Middle and high clouds were expected during the day. The strong southern wind was blowing.

On the briefing, tasksheets were handed out. All classes received an assigned area tasks with the task time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. First launch was planned for 12:00. Start needed to be posponed and starts were confirmed to 12:15. In 50 minutes all gliders were successfuly in the air. There were few gliders that landed and needed to use a second take off. Start lines were opened.

During the day, the temperature raised up and it was not as cold at the airport. The wind was strong but the expected cloud mass was not that significant.

First landings started shortly before 4pm. Many gliders were coming back after finishing the task successfuly. Around 6pm all gliders were accounted for and we knew we had the 3rd valid day. Let´s see what will tomorrow bring us.

Good night!

2nd Competition Day!

We woke up into the sunny morning. The sky was blue and it was a bit freezing outside. Despite the low temperatures we hoped for another competing.

First cumulus clouds appeared before briefing and that was a good call for the task setters. All classes received racing task. Open class received the most challenging one with the distance of 500km.

First launch took place at 11:00 so the gliders had enough time to complete the task. The weather seemed good, the sun was shining but the air was drying out and cumulus clouds slowly disolved.

We were waiting a long time to see whats going on with the pilots. When first gliders came using the engine we were quite sceptic about the situation. Club class was the first one to come. Open class came around six.

When all gliders were counted and we heard that more than 20 pilots were able to complete the 500km task we were more than amazed. After talking with some pilots I was told that the weather was great and thermals were strong. Tasks setters and the meteorologist did a great job to use the weather for the best. We hope that everyone enjoyed the flight and had a good time in the cockpit.
