Competition - 24th Jul 2011
The day is cancelled
The average duration of todays flights for the two classes was around 30 minutes. Marginal conditions got even worse and all gliders except for one landed on the airport and nearby. The organizer decided to cancel the day.
The world class and 20-m doubleseaters are in the air. The conditions are very weak so the other classes have been postponed for now. Majority of the gliders are able to stay in the air in low altitudes. Those who need to land are immediatelly relaunched. The start lines for both classes have been open.
After a short delay the first gliders took off at 13:00. The reported cloudbase is 900m above the airfield and the climbes should be in a range of 1 m/s.
We have complete high clouds coverage over the airport with some cumuli underneath. The sky is quite dark and humid. A small window of a better weather is approaching. The task have been set and the tasksheets are in teamboxes. Launches could start at 12:45 or as soon as the weather allows.
Although the conditions don't look very favorably, there is a chance to fly today according to meteorologist. Tasks will be anounced at 12:00. Grid will be closed at 12:30. High humidity with some scattered layers of high, middle and low clouds and possible showers are all in the forecast for today. The sky looks slightly optimistic at the moment, so let's hope for a good day.
Good morning, the grid will be at RWY 33. Briefieng will be at 10:00 as usually.
